Ian Mason is a doctor by profession and has taken early retirement following a stroke in 2010. He is also an avid nature photographer and is now making the most of his enforced free time. His images have had success in local competitions, and this prompted him to enter the prestigious British Wildlife Photography Awards, where he has achieved “Highly Commended” in 2009 and 2010. He was shortlisted again in 2011 and also was a finalist in the Veolia Wildlife Photographer of the Year, 2011. He was a category runner-up in the Scottish Nature Photographers Awards 2012. He is a member of the web-based Nature Photographers Network, Edinburgh Photographic Society, Nature Photographers' Portfolio and the Zoological Photographic Club.

Ian has decided to share the many images that have been lurking on his computer and is now selling them for charity, with all profits donated to The Stroke Association.
